Nowadays, there are two kind of hardwood furnishings, classic hardwood’s surface usually no varnish, just put some wax on the surface, but the new produced hardwood furniture’s surface has lacquer or varnish to prevent it from going bad. The following are some methods to maintain the hardwood furniture.

Hardwood contains water, it will shrink if the air humidity is too low, oppositely, it will puff if the air humidity is too high. So in case of going bad, don’t put it at the place where is too humid or too dry.

Be careful while moving the hardwood furniture, or it will be scuffed. Don’t put the goods which are too heavy on the hardwood furniture, especially the television and fishbowl. It would change the shape of the furniture because the furniture can’t bear the weight.

Don’t use the wet dishcloth to wipe the hardwood furniture, especially the old ones. Avoid putting the furniture at the front of the window which are faced to the south, the hardwood will be too dry and fade under the direct sunshine.

The cup with hot water in it is not allowed to be put on the hardwood furniture, because it will left some traces, and it’s not easy to remove. The colored liquid, for example, ink, should avoid being sprinkled on the table.
