The 1^st generation, also the single generation, Peugeot 4008 was released in 2012 and it was based on the same platform as the Mitsubishi ASX and the Citroën C4 Aircross. However, this Peugeot 4008 was discontinued in 2017 and it was replaced by 2^nd generation Peugeot 3008, however, the 4008 nameplate was still used in some countries such as China.
